Our last day of riding
starts early with blue sky.
-
We have headwind and
downhill ahead of us. We take the Old West Coast Road from
Sheffield to Yaldhurst to avoid the road construction on the
highway #73.
-
We make the first stop at
Sheffield pie shop to buy a piece of pie and a sandwich. We are
not hungry yet, so we pack both for later.
-
Share the road with bicycles
and sheep!
Today we ride 59.46K in
3:11'11 (avg 18.6kph, max 25.6kph). The total distance we made is
1409 kilometers.
-
We find an old, but
apparently still in use, tennis club, where we stop to enjoy the
pie.
We are in Christchurch and
Glenveagh BB at 1pm., and spend a while chatting with our
lovely hostess Alison over coffee and cones she prepares for us.
-
After a quick break we head
out to town. We spend some time shopping in outdoor stores ---
there are so many of them!
-
After shopping we stop at
Mac's brewery for some snacks and beer tasting:
-
amber, white, black, hop
rocker, and gold.
-
-

-
-
Later we stop at another
micro brewery, Twisted Hop for Mediterranean platter and more beer
tasting.
-
Golding Bitter, Challenger
(special bitter), Twisted ankle (strong dark ale), Poplar's brown,
Honey Dew Ale, and Sauvin Pilsner.
-
We start our last morning in
New Zealand and Christchurch running around the University of
Canterbury campus. The air is clean and crisp.
And then we pack and fly
back home, with tons of awesome experiences and memories with
Kiwis and their land.
