We wake up early when it is
still dark. The day “lightens” grey and gloomy.
-
It is raining when we start
riding. And it is also relatively cold.
-
We stop at Ship Creek to
take a look at the beach and the ocean.
-
It is pretty desolate view,
but we enjoy it.
-
However, our visit is cut
short by a batallion of aggressively biting bugs.
-
Around 10am. the sun comes
out, but it is still a bit chilly.
-
A detour built around a
rockfall, which is not a new one.
-
-
Knights Point, a view of
West Coast we've been looking for!
-
-
-
From here on, our accounts
differ: Tei thinks the road is mostly flat, whereas Tomi thinks
the road is hilly, but not too bad.
-
We pass some amazing
colorful mossy hillsides.
-
And then we are back by the
ocean at Bruce Bay.
-
We have a nice ride with
tailwind.
-
This beach
looks like tons of ancient bones have washed ashore.
-
Today we see exceptionally
many bicyclists.
-
First, a group of four young
gentlemen pass us. Next time we see them is when they are fixing a
flat.
-
They pass us again, but soon
we see them fixing another flat.
-
We also see a number of
bicycle tourers coming up, all young men riding alone.
-
Before reaching Fox Glacier
we conquer a couple of steep hills. We reach the town after
spending ten hours on the road.
-
We have dinner at Cafe Neve.
The place is busy so we are seated outside. The sun sets and it is
getting chilly. Finally, we get to move inside for entrees, two
“small “ pizzas veggie and chicken-apricot.
Today we ride 112.15K in
7:17'30 (avg. 15.3kph, max 48.4kph)
