We start the day with a run.
We follow Wanaka lake shore for a while and then turn back. We
truly enjoy the cool and fresh morning air.

We leave early to board the
bus to Haast.

For a change, everything
goes smoothly with the bikes, and soon we are west coast bound,
enjoying gorgeous scenery bathing in sunshine.

The road #6 is narrow and
curvy, and it gets cloudier and rainier as we approach Haast
Junction.

We reach the west coast at
2pm. We expect to have 30 kilometers of bicycling ahead of us with
three significant ascends, but in comfortable tailwind.

We stop by at the Haast
Visitor Center and find out that there is going to be at least 124
kilometers until the next accommodation.

So, we stay tonight at Haast
World Heritage Hotel for NZ$139.

We spend the afternoon doing
laundry.
Then at 6:30pm we are in the
hotel bar for dinner. The TV is on with a New Zealand –
Australia cricket game, and the atmosphere in the bar is more or
less solemn, and it does not get much merrier when a bunch of
senior tourists enter.
