We have a clear and starry night, but wake up to a cloudy morning. As we crawl out of the tent at 8am., the first bicycling couple rides by from a remote campsite.
We start on a dusty gravel road downhill for the first 30 kilometers.
It sprinkles a bit.
Then, we hit the pavement and have a smooth downhill ride in tailwind.
The rain proper only starts when we struggle the last 20 kilometers in headwind to Te Anau.
We take a room at Holiday Park for NZ$99. After a late lunch at the nearby Fat Duck Cafe, we service the bikes.
Today we ride 62.4K in 3:55'43 (avg 15.9kph, max 32.8kph)
