Wine growers are not going to be happy

It’s about time for a quick post.  We have had several weeks — maybe the whole March if not already in February — of warm and sunny weather, with daytime temperatures as high as +20°C. And now it is cold again and it is snowing, and it is going to be like this for the next week. The wine growers are not happy; last  Spring their harvest was almost ruined by the sudden late Spring cold spell.  They burned fires on their vineyards trying to save the vines from freezing. I don’t know if they need to do it this year, too. Despite the long and warm period, the Spring is later than usual; normally the trees and bushes are quite green already in mid-March, but this year we have seen new buds only in the past few days.

The whole department is under orange alert for icy conditions until tomorrow morning — quite worrisome since the winter tires are not required after March 15, and many drivers may have already switched to regular ones. I also wish the temperature stays above zero; our steep street would be quite hazardous if frozen. Let the Summer roll in!
