Fifth day -- from Truth or Consequences to Albuquerque, NM

Despite the excellent motel facilities in Desert View, we are not that lucky in making hot oats in microwave; it pours over. So, we hit the road and plan to have the breakfast later.

This day is the ghost town watch day. And we have to watch very carefully not to miss them. We find Hillsboro and have our breakfast, Swedish crisp bread and Philadelphia cream cheese. The state trooper watches our breakfasting curious. However, the next ghost town, Chloride, is easy to spot since the road ends there. It is ghostlier than most of them.

Drive to the live town of Albuquerque is interrupted only for split pea soup lunch (Swedish ärtsoppa) at an adobe style rest area. We drive right to the Sandia Peak, where we take the world's longest aerial tramway up to the peak. Up there we can see the whole Albuquerque and more. Restaurant (accurately named High Finance) on the top serves local Kaktus Kölsch of Assets Grille. At 10000 feet it works and we ask for the address of the brewpub. The evening program is fixed.
