The welcome is not much
warmer in NZ end; the customs carefully inspect our boxes for
residues of foreign forms of life (invasive species, that is).
They even open our tent. The officials are very discrete and
friendly, though.

Our flight arrives very
late, and the inspection takes a lot of time, but fortunately our
hosts, Ian and Alison, are equally late. It is a breeze to fit the
boxes and bikes in their van and trailer. And then we are on our
way to Glenveagh BB.

By 6pm. we have unpacked the
boxes and assembled the bikes, and are ready to head out for
dinner. We find all restaurants in the nearby minimall, Fendalton
Village Mall, closed (it is Chinese New Year Holiday), but on the
other side of its vast parking lot Misceo, a trendy but cosy
restaurant is open. Judging by the surroundings it is hard to tell
where we are, not in Singapore though; it is chilly and the
service in Misceo is superb.
