Tour des Petites Roches

This past Sunday (28.2.) we returned for another sunny hike (9.65K in 3h 40mins, D+/D- 840m) to the GR trail of Tour des Petites Roches on Chartreuse (GR stands for The Grande Randonnée, Groteroutepaden or Langeafstandwandelpaden, Grande Rota or Gran Recorrido, and make a network of long-distance hiking routes in Europe). The trail runs on the plateau that is located just above our house at the altitude of about one kilometer, and is located within convenient 15-minute drive away. This time we even gave a lift to a couple, who were hitchhiking to return up to the plateau for another paragliding launch.  Apparently hitchhiking is very common (and safe) way for young people to travel in France, since we’ve seen a lot of hitchhikers by the roads.

Not only were there a lot of paragliders (as usual), but for the first time we saw wingsuit flyers live. We were in the forest when we heard a strange humming sound above us that could have come from a small aircraft or a sailplane, but then we saw the suits flying past — and very fast they flew!

I finish this post with some pictures of launching paragliders. Unfortunately, we could not get the wingsuits in our pictures: at the time we heard them they were already above us, and gone very quickly.
