There is not much to write about our short stay in Helsinki. Since our flight from Bergamo landed after midnight, we stayed the first night at the Scandic Helsinki Airport hotel. The next two nights we stayed at an Airbnb in Sompasaari. On our first morning there we went for an early run in the cool and fresh sea air to an upcoming residential area in Hernesaari. The pictures (below) are of the nearly one-kilometer long construction wall consisting of 24 paintings “Helsinki  24h” by two art students of Aalto University that depict scenes of Helsinki in different hours of the day from early morning to midnight. After the run, as the tradition goes, we met our friends for breakfast in a relatively newly opened coffee roastery “18grams” (more about that in a later post about food).

Not much luck with the sun the next morning, but we went for a run nevertheless. For comparison, I enter a couple of pictures of  the view from the previous day.

I finish this post with a cool and colorful photo of Mobility Mindshift project in Hallituskatu, Tampere, an idea from young people to transform parking spaces for cars to places for people to relax. The project runs from June to September, after which the constructs and flowers will be removed, and parking spaces returned.
