Certainly no one could have missed the havoc the recent heavy rains have caused in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, and Switzerland. This has probably been the worst Summer we have experienced in the French alps, and we have had our fair share of rain, too, but nothing clearly as bad as in Germany. I don’t know about the rivers there, but in France there are few completely wild rivers — most have their flow and level regulated. Still today, Rhône is slightly flooded.
The rain took a break at noon yesterday, so I went for a short walk to check the state of our local stream Craponoz that comes down from the Chartreuse range and flows into Isère. I’ve never seen it so wild and the water so murky, although it is usually a bit murky after a rainfall. Here are some videos I took.
