Le tour du Mont Aiguille

This is our first hike since we came back from Singapore, and counts towards the series of preparations for the 40km mountain marathon we are planning to run in August on the Vercors range.
We packed the breakfast, so we were on the road early. And we were almost the only ones.

Mont Aiguille has height of 2085 meters, but the hike did not take us to the top, only to 1660 meters at le Col de l’Aupet. Reaching the summit would require some technical climbing — Mt. Aiguille is actually a popular destination for mountaineers.

The sky is perfectly clear and blue, but then this single cloud comes from nowhere to cover the Eastern face of the mountain.

The Northern/North-eastern face of the mountain.

The North-western face of the mountain.

The log that served as our picnic table and bench.

The Eastern face of Mont Aiguille — from le col de l’Aupet, the closest to the peak we got.

There were a lot of flowes, but taking pictures of them was quite challening in the bright sunlight.

The total distance hiked was 17.8 kilometers and the total climb 1150 meters, and we covered it in little more than six hours.
