We have finished fifteen weeks of Polar’s training program, started this morning the sixteenth, and feel pretty good. We have still six more weeks to go in the Base building phase of the program, and thereafter 13 weeks of Build-up until the race day. We were confident enough of our progress, shape, and health, that we already registered for Zurich Rock’n’Roll Marathon Running Series race in Madrid on April 26, 2026, and are considering running a another race next Summer in Finland, maybe a half marathon!
Above are some pictures from our long runs, first three from Finland, Mänttä and Kangaslampi last summer, and the rest from here. We still struggle finding relatively flat routes for the long runs, longest ones so far having been “only” 1h45mins, but maybe it gets easier when the runs get longer in the Build-up phase. Still, the longest runs in this program will be no more than 2h20mins, which is way too short to prepare us for more than four hours of running. So, we need to find a way to make them longer. Bon courage!
