Third day -- from Pensacola, FL to New Orleans, LA

The third morning brings the sunshine. Still, the air is no warmer than yesterday but the wind chill is significant. Following the Gulf of Mexico seashore we drive towards Abita Springs past greeting Santa Clauses, desolated white sand beaches, pastel-tinted holiday resorts and idyllic small town centers which are crowded with season shoppers (or their cars).

In Abita Springs we visit, of course, Abita Brewpub. Even if their web-page is pretty ugly if not tasteless, food is not. Stuffed eggplant is delicious. Promptly at the sunset we make it to the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. It makes an impressive 23 mile entrance across the lake to New Orleans.
