We bought skis and shoes very late last Winter season, so we did not have many opportunities to practise our skate skiing skills. This year we decided to start early, as soon as there was enough snow and there were tracks somewhere. Last Saturday we drove to Gève in Autrans on the Vercors range, and met a long line of vehicles — apparently quite a few people had the same idea. It took a while before we got our ski passes and took a shuttle pass to the start of the tracks. Tracks were quite soft, but despite the number of skiers, it did not feel crowded.
Again it took some time to get used to balancing and sliding, but in the end, I think we were doing pretty well. Now we just need to keep up this thing, which may be a challenge because of warm temperatures and all the rain we have been receiving, and will receive in the next few days — it could be that the snow is completely gone by the next weekend 🙁
