Saint-Antoine l’Abbaye – Visiting one of the most beautiful villages of France

We started our Fall vacation with a half-day road trip to Saint-Antoine l’Abbaye, a small town in our department that has been listed among the most beautiful villages of France since 2010.

Abbey of Saint-Antoine is one of the most impressive Gothic structures in the region.

It was cloudy when we left Grenoble towards North-West, but after just few minutes of driving all we saw was the blue sky. After passing the North end of the Vercors range, and turning towards South we were in shade again, and in cool morning mist.

I am a Fall (and Winter) person, but I objectively think that Fall colors give extra charm to old villages and rolling hills alike. And a definite plus side traveling in the Fall, of season that is, is that there are not too many tourists around.
