We enjoyed the sunny and warm First of May hiking on the Vercors. This time our destination was a sightseeing platform Vertige des Cimes that extends a few meters over the edge of the mountain with about 300 meters drop below. It is an easy hike away from the ski station Montagnes de Lans (Lans-en-Vercors), even now when there was quite a bit of snow, but can be accessed by a ski lift during the ski season.
Unfortunately our visit coincided with heavy clouds ascending the slope, so our view was somewhat limited, but we saw a glimpse of Mont Blanc.
There is a webcam installed next to the bridge that the visitors can use to take a photo of themselves. Here we are in the clouds:
From the Vertige des Cimes we descended to Habert-des-Ramees for lunch. There were a lot of flowers — mostly crocuses in white, light blue and violet — so that it was practically impossible to walk without stamping them. We also saw quite a few hikers, most of them in t-shirts and shorts. When we started there were only a couple of cars on the parking lot, but when we were back more than three hours later, there were tens. A couple of guys started at the same time as us with their skis and snowboards with a plan to ski off-piste; there is still a lot of snow on higher altitudes.
