Fall vacation: Grottes de la Jaubernie (Part 8)

The last but one hike (14.2K in 4h 55mins, D+/D- 695m)  on this vacation took  us to above and below the caves of Jaubernie. These fortified caves were used as a hiding place by people who were persecuted for their religious beliefs during the religious wars in the 17th and 18th centuries.

This hike was also recommended by our Airbnb host and started straight from the village. Before getting to the caves we did a long loop on a higher altitude where we had amazing views to the Rhône and Ouvèze river valleys.

There is just one more hike to report from this vacation: from Coux’s neighboring village of Flaviac up to Col de Gardette and back on the next day. From Flaviac we drove to Chapelle-en-Vercors, and enjoyed breathtaking views from Col de Rousset between Chapelle and Die in Drôme.
