From Aurillac to Pont-Saint-Esprit

After we had already extended our stay in Aurilliac by two days, if was time to move on and start driving home — kind of. We had booked the first two nights in Pont-Saint-Esprit, a small town by the river Rhône in the department of Gard.  Even if we spent most of the drive in dense fog, it was quite a scenic route. As we were heading South(-East), the Fall colors became  less and less vibrant compared to what they were in Cantal.

Aiguèze

Actually we had briefly visited Aiguèze last year when we returned from our winter vacation in Aix-en-Provençe. Then we made  short village tour, now  we explored further to Les Rochers de Castelviel with magnificent views to the surrounding vineyards and olive gardens, and the Ardèche gorge (8.36K in 3h, D+/D- 305m).

Our trip was nearing the end; our next stop was at Coux, a small idyllic village next to Privas, the capital of Ardèche department.
