This weekend was probably one of the last chances, if not the last, to go skiing around here. Even if there is still quite a bit of snow, like in Chamrousse today, the skiing stations will be closing in early April.
We had to climb quite high to reach the snow line, but at 1500 there started to be a lot of the white stuff. The Vercors range pictured below.
Conditions in the Chamrousse Nordic park were quite different from Serre Chevalier last week. Snow was wet and soft, and large number of skiers had plowed the groomed tracks to a complete mess. It was like skiing in porridge. The Nordic park was quite nice though, and accommodated a lot of skiers without being or feeling crowded. We’ll be back!
