Work Trip to Seoul

Work trips are work trips – cannot really enjoy the new ambiance the way one should.

Deview 2018

In October Tomi got a chance to visit a Deview 2018 event in Seoul Korea. A technology conference organized by Korean ambience intelligence company Naver. The two day event featured four parallel tracks of presentations.

The tickets to the presentations are free but limited, so they are booked out usually in minutes.

But most people appeared to be there to collect all kind of freebies from the booths. Mugs, T-shirts, cupcakes, toys, stickers …

Buckchon

This village is suffering from tourists
It is actually still a residential area.

Weekend offered a little opportunity for sightseeing to the historical Buckchon Hanok Village where Korean influential families used to live in Joseon dynasty.

The place is very touristy – there is a traditional crafts experience center and lots of Korean people dressed up into traditional costumes that are also sold for tourists.

At every street corner there were city tourist guides asking people to be quiet and not to disturb people that actually live there.

Seoul old and new

Other than that, the mixture of old and new resembled similar places in Japan – like Kyoto we visited last year.
