This past Sunday (11.10) we went for another scenic hike on Eastern balcony of the Vercors range (11km in 3h 45mins, D+/D- 720m). Once again we miscalculated the effect of strong wind on a higher and somewhat exposed altitude. When we started in Prélenfrey (Le Gua) at 11am. it was only +8°C and the strong chilly wind was particularly brutal. The temperature did not rise at all during our four-hour hike.
Apparently the temperature had had a sudden and drastic drop during the past week, since we saw a lot of bright Fall colors that were not there a week earlier, when we went for a hike in the same area (in even bleaker weather). Unfortunately, the clouds were very dark and the Sun escaped our photos, so they don’t do justice to the colors.
The mountain ( l’Éperrimont, 1441m) in the first picture and one below it is nicknamed The Indian because of the profile of the peak (which is not clearly visible of these photos, though).
