Day 2 - From Bedford to French Lick

The sun does not shine on us too much today. Or actually, it does for few minutes; enough for Tomi to perform his rain dance (put on some sunscreen). And here we go! The rest of the day we ride in a heavy or even heavier rain pour.

Back to the basics: we enjoy breakfast in Early Bird diner in Bedford after watching ancient TV series and commercials for the Mormon book in our motel room TV. Early Bird is a nice place, indeed, but in drizzling rain we start the day's bike ride towards French Lick via Orangeville.

It is a scenic ride from Bedford to French Lick and romantic too, as one might say, when we escaped the thunderstorm to an abandoned barn (only after we have been thoroughly soaked under roadside trees). In the shelter we change dry and warm clothes on, and then patiently wait for the rain to stop, which it does after one and half hours. We continue our ride to Orangeville.

Occasionally, the rain starts, stops and then starts again, and we seek shelter in an old sawmill for a while. Finally, it rains heavily enough for us to give up our plans of looking for the Rise of the Lost River in Orangeville.

After some exhausting extra hilly miles (we decide to approach the French Lick Springs Resort the hard way) we take our bikes and panniers into the hotel room. The dinner buffet is not something one would expect from a quality place like French Lick Springs Resort, but it fills our empty stomachs. Evening is not too lively either, so we retreat back to the room to stretch our aching muscles.
